As we welcome spring, I’m thrilled to reflect on the collaborative spirit and exciting momentum building within our community.

In early February, the St. George Business Association hosted a Collaboration Evening at the St. George Legion. We invited several local organizations — including the St. George Lions, the St. George Legion, the South Dumfries Historical Society, St. George Lawn Bowling Club, and St. George Garden Club — to share insights into their strengths and challenges. Our goal is to foster better communication and support growth across our community, ensuring these vital groups continue to thrive in our beloved village. We’re committed to meeting throughout the year to strengthen these connections.

More recently, on February 24, we hosted a Panel Discussion focused on future development in St. George and its impact on local businesses. It was wonderful to see a full house!

A special thanks to the St. George Lawn Bowling Club for hosting, and to our panelists: Brandon Kortleve, Manager of Policy Planning Division for the County of Brant; Zach Gable, Director of Economic Development & Tourism for the County of Brant; and Bob Stewart from Pinevest Homes. Their insights were invaluable in helping us envision what’s ahead for St. George. Looking forward, we have a few key dates for your calendar:

  • Tuesday, March 25: Join us for a Social Evening at the Dragon at 7p.m. This is a relaxed networking event — a great chance to connect with fellow local business members.
  • Monday, April 14: Our Annual General Meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the South Dumfries Historical Society. We encourage everyone to attend for important updates and to help shape our direction moving forward.
  • Thursday, May 29: The St. George Lawn Bowling Club invites members of the SGBA and our local business community to tour the newly renovated, accessible clubhouse and try your hand at lawn bowling. Doors open at 7 p.m.
  • Sunday, June 22: Our Annual St. George Car Show is back — and this year, we’re excited to introduce a Vendor Market! Stay tuned for more details.

Thank you all for your continued support and dedication to our community. I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!

Warm regards,

Heidi Gorter President,

St. George Business Association
